You boosted a post for ₹1,000, got a few likes, and nobody called. Or you set ₹300 a day and one day the spend went higher, then a tax line showed up on the receipt. Both are normal, and both make sense once you know how Meta charges.
This guide explains Meta ads cost in India using only Meta's own Business Help Center. It covers how budgets work, when you are charged, how GST and TDS apply, and how to pay with UPI. It does not promise results, because nobody honest can.
Quick answer
How much do Meta ads cost in India?
Meta ads cost what you decide to spend, because you set the budget, which Meta calls "a cost control tool". What you get for that money depends on an auction where ads compete "based on bids and performance". Meta does not print a standard rupee rate.
That is why a quote like "₹10 per click" from a friend may not match your account. Your audience, your ad and what you ask Meta to get you (clicks, messages, sales) all change the price.
Is there a minimum budget?
Yes, but Meta does not publish one fixed rupee figure. Its minimum budget page says the minimum depends on "business vertical, budget type, buying type, bid strategy, optimization, currency and schedule". Ads Manager shows an alert if your budget is too low.
Meta gives one rule worth knowing. If you set a cost per result goal, your daily budget should be at least 5 times that goal.
Meta ads cost in India per day: why spend can go over
Meta says daily budgets "are not a hard cap". On days with better chances, it may spend up to 75% above your daily budget, and less on others. Over a calendar week, from Sunday to Saturday, it will not spend more than 7 times your daily budget.
| Your daily budget | Possible spend on one busy day | Most spend in one week |
| ₹200 | up to ₹350 | ₹1,400 |
| ₹500 | up to ₹875 | ₹3,500 |
| ₹1,000 | up to ₹1,750 | ₹7,000 |
These rupee figures are simple maths using Meta's 75% and 7 times rules. They do not include tax. If you need a hard limit, Meta says a lifetime budget is "a hard cap, not an average".
How does Meta billing work in India?
Meta has two main payment settings: automatic billing and available funds. With automatic billing, you are charged when your spend reaches a payment threshold, then again on your monthly bill date. With available funds, you add money first and Meta deducts from it up to once a day.
Paying with UPI or netbanking
Meta's India payment page lists credit cards, co-branded debit cards, netbanking and UPI. The manual methods work only if your ad account country is India and the currency is rupees.
If you want to pay this way, choose UPI or netbanking when you first create the ad account. Meta says you can add a manual payment method only if you choose one at setup. So if you start with only a card, you may not be able to switch to UPI later.
Your receipt can be higher than one ad's budget
Meta notes that your final bill "may exceed your budget for a particular ad". The bill covers all ads in the billing period, plus fees and taxes. Check the final charges, fees and taxes under Billing and payments, not just the amount spent column in Ads Manager.
How do GST and TDS work on Meta ads in India?
Meta's help page says that since October 2018, Meta ads in India are sold by Meta India. They are "billed and paid for in Indian rupees and subject to a goods and services tax (GST) and tax deducted at source (TDS)". GST and TDS are added whenever you are charged.
Meta's help page does not print the GST rate. You can see the actual tax on each receipt in Billing and payments.
Adding your GSTIN
Entering a GSTIN (your GST number) is not mandatory, Meta says. But if you are registered and want to claim input tax credit, enter the GSTIN of your main state of operations or head office. You add the 15-character number in Payment settings, under Business info, and you must be an admin of the ad account.
What happens with TDS
Meta says the amount charged includes TDS, but you still have to pay TDS to the government under local law. Once you send Meta the TDS certificate, you get the refund as a Meta ad credit. Meta adds that it cannot give tax advice, so check with your accountant.
Instagram ads cost in India: is it different?
Instagram ads are bought through the same Meta ad account, so the same billing, GST and budget rules apply. Meta's billing page covers ads on Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and the Meta Audience Network together. What changes is how people respond on each app, which changes your results, not the billing rules.
| Question | ||
| Who bills you in India | Meta India | Meta India |

| GST and TDS | Added when charged | Added when charged |
| Daily budget rule | Up to 75% over on a day, 7 times weekly cap | Same |

Facebook ads for small business: what to test first
Start with one goal, one audience and a small daily budget you can afford at 75% over on a busy day. Meta's minimum budget page says some goals cost more than others; purchases may need more budget than landing page views. So pick the simplest goal that still means something to your business.
- Decide what one result you want: calls, WhatsApp messages, form enquiries or sales.
- Make sure the page or chat where people land is ready to answer them fast.
- Set up the ad account with India as the country and rupees as currency, and pick your payment method at setup.
- Add your GSTIN before you start if you plan to claim input tax credit.
- Run one ad set with a daily budget you can afford at up to 75% more on a busy day.
- Avoid cutting the budget late in the day; Meta warns the system may not have time to apply it.
- After two weeks, compare enquiries with the amount on your receipts, including tax.
Why the landing page decides the result
Meta charges for showing your ad, not for sales. If people tap through to a slow page with no clear price or contact button, you have paid for nothing. Before spending more on ads, make sure the page works, for example with The Beyond Horizon's website development service for Indian businesses.
For the YUMI online store, The Beyond Horizon added the Facebook Pixel (a small tracking code from Meta) for conversion tracking. It tracks conversions across the whole buying path, so ad results are measured on the site, not guessed from likes.
Mistakes that waste Meta ad money
Each of these costs money without bringing a single enquiry.
| Mistake | What to do instead |
| Judging spend by one day | Judge by the week; the weekly cap is 7 times the daily budget |
| Adding a card first, then wanting UPI | Choose UPI or netbanking when you create the account |
| Forgetting GST and TDS in the plan | Plan with tax included and keep TDS certificates |
| Sending ads to a page nobody can act on | Fix the landing page before raising the budget |
| Counting likes as results | Count calls, messages and orders |
Next step
Set one goal and a weekly amount you are comfortable with, then check your first receipts in Billing and payments. If your ads send people to a website that is slow or unclear, call or WhatsApp The Beyond Horizon on +91 75973 92744. We will look at the page your ads point to and tell you what to fix.
